This horn has balanced that equation! It has an i From a functional and cosmetic standpoint, this horn is probably as close to a new Elkhart 8D that you will ever see! IвЂ™ve been playing on various Conn 8Ds for decades now and never was very impressed with the handful of Elkhart horns I had played. They have a nice firm fit, which was another pleasant surprise for a horn this age. They are incredibly fast and very quiet! The slides have been freshly greased and move nice and smooth with superior alignment. I just gave it a nice bath and re-oiled and restrung the valves, as well as replaced the bumpers with new neoprene and lined them up precisely. The valves have never been rebuilt or replated and they have SUPERB compression! I have actually had a few new horns that didnвЂ™t have compression as good as this horn! There is also virtually no play when wiggling the valve posts either vertically or horizontally. It does not show ANY signs of solder repair in its history. It does have some tiny dings and scuffs as well as a few signs of dent repair and I have provided close up. more and the round 2 nd valve pull rings. This horn is in INCREDIBLE condition and is the finest kept example of this series of horns that I've ever seen! This is not a refurbished horn but one that has only had one owner(prior to myself) that purchased it new in 1969. These horns are sought diligently by todayвЂ™s professionals as highly refined tools of the trade. The people creating these horns had evolved from mere manufacturers, to artists of instrument creation. The latter years when the Conn factory was located in Elkhart, Indiana represented a golden age of Horn manufacturing.

This item will be shipped within the United States via USPS Priority Mail. PayPal is the only method of payment accepted and the item will be shipped to the winning bidder's confirmed PayPal address. With a bit of oil, the valves spin properly in the first and third casings, but not the second. The second valve casing is out of round, which was the problem with the horn, and some of the valve slide attachments are damaged. The valves come with plenty of green crud, and one stop arm screw and one string set screw are missing. These valves were removed from the horn many years ago when I performed a'valvectomy' on a broken down old Conn 4D to create a basic natural horn to fool around with. Three valve casings, three valve caps, three bearing plates, three stop arms, two stop arm screws, and two string set screws. The photos are of the item being auctioned.
